Costa Smeralda
The tourist region, included in the municipal territory of Arzachena, extends over a stretch of coast of about fifty kilometers. The coast is characterized by the presence of numerous inlets, small beaches, and not far from numerous islands of the La Maddalena archipelago such as Cappuccini, Bisce, Li Nibani, Mortorio, Le Camere and Soffi. The territory was mainly uninhabited until the first half of the twentieth century until the birth, on March 14, 1962, of the Costa Smeralda Consortium by decision of Prince Karim Aga Khan IV, imam of the Ismaili Nizariti Muslims, of British citizenship. Together with the right arm Paolo Riccardi (general secretary costa smeralda) and the lawyer Andrè Ardoin, owner of 55 kilometers of what was then called Monti di Mola, they put billions, architects and commitment into it and made them become the Costa Smeralda.
